is a prime time in Northern California for Triumph Driving. We are pleased
to offer five guided drives along scenic routes to destinations favored
by local Triumph enthusiasts. Please read the descriptions below and sign
up for one of the drives. We plan to have a pair of local leaders for each
drive and, in order to ensure we have adequate coverage, we ask that you
please sign up for one of the drives in advance. We aim to have a manageable
number of cars on each drive, so we are trying to gauge interest for each
route in advance. If we have a drive that is “over-subscribed”,
we may add a second section to that drive. The Napa County Wine Tasting Country Drive can accommodate only a limited number of cars, so please sign up soon if you would like to participate. The Napa drive has a per person cost of $108. Any food and beverage costs on the other drives are up to each participant. |

We
leave the hotel and drive directly into the rolling countryside of West
Marin County. We head through the old town of Point Reyes Station, then
head up some great coastal roads to Bodega Bay where we stop for lunch
overlooking the Pacific. On our return journey, we head out on new roads,
across country to Petaluma, then down yet another back road to our base.

Sonoma
County – Vineyards and Hills |

We begin by heading North from
Marin into Sonoma County, into the rich vineyard country just West of Napa,
to the town of Glen Ellen. There we turn West and climb the massive 2500
ft Sonoma Mountain and enjoy the long views to the Pacific. The autumnal
golden hills surround us as we pass along the twisty, narrow roads. Following
our climb, we return to sea level and head back South for a well-earned
pub lunch and home on a few miles of straight secondary roads. Driving distance ~ 75 miles, Driving time ~ 2 hours. With lunch, ~ 3 hours |

Napa
County Wine Tasting Country Drive |

Tasting and Lunch. September in Marin is usually a prime time for Triumph driving. Our group will leave the hotel about 9 am with big smiles, rolling through Marin and Sonoma counties on roads less traveled. Full tanks, tops down, we’ll go for some open road cruising, then along the back side of Sonoma, up a steep, twisty hill climb, at the crest of which, we cross from Sonoma into Napa. We’ll wind down a canyon before a steep descent into Napa Valley. Our drive takes us through golden grassy hills, past bucolic dairies, over steep ridges and finally, we’ll pause for a private luncheon and tasting in the Napa Valley vineyards of an off-the-beaten-path Rutherford winery. Our tasting will probably include whites (not your typical Chardonnay, think Viognier, Roussanne, Albarino) and reds (Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, Cabernet). Lunch will be family style platters (veggies, meats, salads) on table cloths outdoors in the shade. Actual motoring time approximately 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Back at hotel approximately 3 p.m. Space is limited to 40 persons. Cost $108 per person. | |||

We depart the hotel and head
south on US 101 to hit Highway 1 in Mill Valley. We climb over Mt Tam and
drop down to Muir Beach, up over the bluffs and down to Stinson. We ease
up through the turns past Bolinas Lagoon and blast up hills and through
valleys to Olema. Up to Pt Reyes Station for a break, then past Nicasio
Reservoir and stop for a lunch break at Rancho Nicasio. After lunch, we
roll past horse farms and Skywalker Ranch as we head back to base. Driving distance ~ 50 miles, driving time ~ 2 ½ hours. With lunch, ~ 3 ½ hours. |

Heart
of Marin |

For those preferring a shorter
drive, we offer the Heart of Marin. This drive takes us from the hotel along
a winding road from the busy 101 corridor over the hill through the wide-open
San Geronimo Valley, past famous Lagunitas, before entering a true Marin
gem- the Redwood-shrouded Samuel P Taylor State Park. Continuing along the
creek, we pass the old hamlet of Tocoloma, then blast up and over the hill
to Olema, where we turn onto Highway One for the gentle cruise up to Point
Reyes Station. From PRS, we wind along the twisties and up the hill, zooming
past the reservoir, then a smooth ride into Nicasio. We break here for lunch,
then push on through, past the famous Skywalker Ranch to the hotel in about
30 minutes. Driving distance ~ 45 miles. Driving time ~ 1 ½ hours. With lunch ~ 2 ½ hours. |
